Travelling with Friends? Here are 4 Reasons to Hire a Campervan Instead of Using Hostels

If you're going to be travelling around Australia with a few buddies, you're probably thinking of staying in hostels. However, you should really consider renting a campervan instead, and here are just four important reasons why.

1. You'll Not Have to Worry About Luggage

When you and your friends rent a campervan, you'll have plenty of luggage space in which to stow all of your possessions. You won't have to worry about carrying a huge backpack around with you from public transportation to the hostel since everything can be transported in the campervan. This is also nice from a security point of view. In a hostel, you'll have a small locker for valuables, but everything else will need to be left out in your room. With a campervan, everything can be locked away at the turn of a key or press of a button.

2. You'll Remain Totally Flexible

If you're going on a trip with your friends, you probably want to keep things flexible. Hostels tend to allow for a little more flexibility than hotels, but they still book up fast. You can't just decide on the spur of the moment to turn up in Byron Bay and expect to find a hostel room. In contrast, you can decide to up sticks and drive from Cairns to Townsville without having to worry about finding accommodation either along the way or when you arrive.

3. You'll Bond More with Your Buds

You'll obviously be able to meet other travellers when you stay in hostel, but you can also meet other travellers by visiting bars and engaging in activities, so this isn't really too important an advantage. With a campervan, you'll still find it easy to make new friends, but you'll also be able to better bond with the friends you have since you will be together all the time, and that can make the trip all the more special.

4. You'll Get to Attractions More Easily

Ultimately, even the nicest hostel can only ever provide accommodation. In contrast, campervans provide both accommodation and transportation. That might sound like an obvious point, but it's one worth keeping in mind when you think about how you're going to reach certain attractions. Many attractions, including most national parks, are tricky to reach without a vehicle. Even if you can get where you need to go via public transportation, it usually takes a little longer and you'll probably find it hard to arrive early in the day before the crowds turn up.

Make sure you consider these factors and others as you look for a campervan or car for rent for your trip.
